Blog EntryAnd so, the NCAA aftermath unfolds...Sep 28, '07 5:20 PM
for everyone

I hate to say I told you so, but just give me the pleasure to say I told you so that..

We are going home with the crown!

This photo is the banner outside the school taken during the victory party.

THE PARADE OF THE RED SHIRTS

f a n <noun> etymology: probably short for fanatic; 1. an enthusiastic devotee ( as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator.

During the game, you just can't help but take snapshots of random people. Different emotions, different expectations - and they come in cool shirts too!

The third picture defines "ordinary fan" to the next level.

It's the Ogie Menor hairstyle syndrome.

[left]: There was this one lively group of students who passionately tally Sam Ekwe's score, rebounds, steals and points. They came very prepared with that improvised scoreboard. I remember our 'batibot days' during college haha ^__^

[right]: Kuya JP, Bernie and my Joachim: They were all standing.

Very intense...yeah?

The big red foamy hands, more red balloons and cardboards all say one thing:

 G O   S A N   B E D A   F I G H T!

We are Bedans. Need We Say More? We don't have little Indians during the half time so we shout at the top of our lungs (special mention to Ronald, who should auditioned to the cheering squad..Man, they could use your voice)

My boy band: Through Upper A & Upper B and Patron tickets. Through overpriced jackets and San Beda paraphernalia, we still watch it, because we LOVE it!

[right video clip]: More cheers in the air as the game draws its end.
[left video clip]: The last 20 seconds of the game for the Letranites to hope for the best; The first 20 seconds for the Red Lions to say 'WE ARE STILL THE BEST'

"I'm going home to the place where I belong, where your love has always been enough for me..."

"...but these places and these faces are getting old, so I'm going home..."

BACK TO THE DEN: I have never seen the LRT full of people in red shirts. Get ready for the victory party!

And when I saw this outside, I feel that there are more reasons to celebrate: MABUHAY: BEDAN ATHLETES!!!

He was there - again! This time, he wears RED!!! Bow to the Loyalty Chito Loyzaga for in his blood flows the blood of great ball players. [Extreme hehe]

Dark chocolate men.. anyone?

[left:] He might literally kick some butt (that we all know will hurt) but... Sam is definitely a sweetheart, and I will repeat it for the record. He is scary at times because of his height and strong skin color but he knows how to smell good. ^__^ *sniff*sniff*

[right:] Eneka Udo (not sure of his first name, though) sure is younger and we can say 'lighter' but i think he is suplado and super snob -maybe just my first impression, but he just makes sure he knows how to bring it next season. Some says he is to watch out for... we'll see!

Forgive me, I hug people when I'm happy. hehe

THE BEDAN HYMN
The chills and the thrills, it's all part of the singing and reminiscing.
Even though they might emphasized 'boyhood' every time we sing, I just say, whatever!

I am a proud FEMALE BEDAN
I celebrate the BEDAN culture just like any other Bedan would do
and I bring back the glory to San Beda, our country and God.

See you next season!

Blog EntryANIMO means COURAGESep 21, '07 7:24 AM
for everyone
It all began on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at the Big Dome.

September 19 is not an ordinary day for the Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Beda College.

Because at the end of the game, only one team nears the crown.

It's the NCAA Season 83
BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Number Play:
Not your average Red Lion ball game
. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . ..

We sure scored first but the opponent shows persistence with their defense.

Although they won't admit, both teams are nervous.

Both teams need to win. Big time!

I thought that the game will be predictable on the second quarter, but with the close range of scores, nobody can tell.

(Maybe we can ask the referee and his "no call" judgements hmmp!)

WIN or LOSE: Somebody's got to go home celebrating or crying. Hopes are high and the emerging spirit is to fight, we won by 8 points!

I think Ogie Menor's defense saved our Lion's butt. :D

 . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. . . . .. .

I think in the NCAA, nobody can beat the San Beda crowd, when everybody claps together, you will see war faces ready to battle and defend the squad.

Sure thing, the opponent was intimidated.

GREAT BALLERS COME FROM THE DEN

[left: young Caloy Loyzaga photo taken from Wikipedia.com; right:Chito Loyzaga]

If there is one person who will miss the San Beda-Letran match, its definitely not Chito Loyzaga, son of...

 Mr. Carlos "Caloy" Loyzaga

the former 1950's Red Lion Superstar baller who experienced first hand head-to-head battle against the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights. The Letranites on that era were notorious in the hard court that is why they were called "Murder Inc."

Scarrrryy....?

Well, they say that he really wanted to play for the Letran Knights but because of the not so 'welcoming' attitude of the coach then, he backed out. And according to Wikipedia, former olympian and coach Felicisimo Fajardo encouraged him to play for Beda instead.

The Better Choice.

He now forerever lives with the goose bump- giving and super astig monikers...

"THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE PHILIPPINE HISTORY"

"THE GREAT DIFFERENCE"

"KING CALOY"

It's just ironic that he is wearing BLUE during the game and he sits in the middle of the RED crowd. Indeed. Famous people disguise hehe :D
